Kentish Express - 31 May 2001 - Art Is Not All About Contrast |
|
More than 160
guests attended the opening of an exhibition exploring the cultural
contrasts and similarities between Kent and Northern France. Linking Kent, at
Ashford Library Gallery, in Church Road, until June 23, features work
by printmaker Mary Chaplin, from Hastingleigh, painter Marion Lynn,
from Boughton Aluph, and fine art photographers Liz Garnett, from
Brabourne Lees, and Donna Hawkes-Baines, from Saltwood. The private
viewing earlier this month was one of the final engagements enjoyed by
Mayor and Mayoress of Ashford Cll Jim Hoad and his wife Janet, whose
term of office ended on May 17. Ashford Library
Gallery arts assistant Laura Knight said: "We are very pleased
about the way this exhibition has come together and the visual impact
in the gallery." The display,
part of Kent County Council's Kentweek Festival, can also be viewed
